Trio Dishes Up Success
Three southern food businesses have picked up prizes in the Brisbane finals of the Restaurant and Catering Queensland awards.
The awards were announced at the Brisbane Markets, Rocklea, on Monday. Regional winners will advance to the state finals, to be announced on September 19.
Representatives from more than 100 restaurants converged on the Brisbane Markets for the presentations
Restaurant and Catering Queensland president Con Castrisos said 620 entries from across the state had been received.
"The awards program this year focused on expanding its profile and responded to new trends in the market by introducing three new categories: Best Restaurant Wine List featuring Queensland wines, Best Casual/Buffet Dining Restaurant and Best Pizza Restaurant" Mr Castrisos said.
Ahmet's Licensed Turkish Restaurant, South Bank, won the Brisbane region prize for entertainment, while Two Seasons Cuisine at West End won the Asian category.
Ahmet's co-owner Suzan Gencerler said the restaurant was happy with the win, which was the third prize it had won as part of the awards in the past three years.
Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre won the function/convention centre catering category.
